Watami to become Spanish restaurant La Buena Vida

|

Watami, the former Asian fusion restaurant in Moriches, is being transformed into an authentic Spanish restaurant called La Buena Vida, the site’s new co-owner said Saturday.

Tom Freck, of Center Moriches, who has owned Portside Bar & Grill for the past 10 years, acquired the property several weeks ago with co-owner and chef Luis Nunez; renovations have been underway since.

The revamped site will include a bar, the main restaurant with about 80 seats, a catering room, a party room for about 25, as well as an outdoor deck in the spring of 2020.

Freck said the restaurant will “mainly offer steaks and seafood,” and will include dishes such as paella, tapas and chops.

He hopes to open sometime in November.

What made him purchase the location, which, previous to Watami, was Ladakins?

“I live in the area and wanted another choice for good food,” Freck said.
