Watch: FiOS1’s Restaurant Hunter visits Catch Oyster Bar in Patchogue

|

The popular Verizon FiOS1 news segment Restaurant Hunter with Rob Petrone recently paid a visit to Catch Oyster Bar in Patchogue.

There, Petrone met owners Jim Avino, also of Avino’s Italian Table in Bellport, and his son, Mike, who touted the array of daily local oyster offerings at Catch, located at 63 North Ocean Avenue.

“Each one of these oysters has its own flavor profile, and the haredest part is finding which one you like best,” said Mike Avino, whose favorite way to eat an oyster is a little cocktail sauce and lemon.

A squeeze of lemon goes well to enhance the flavors of any seafood, he told Petrone.

“Here at Catch, it’s like the next generation, that I was not part of,” said Jim Avino. “In my lifetime it was really all about clams on the Great South Bay.”

Mike also takes Petrone through Catch’s Oysters Rockefeller and Oyster Po’ Boy sandwich.

“It’s kind of a throwback place,” Jim said of the decor. “But at the same time you kind of feel like you stepped into a sort of upscale, Manhattan hot spot.”
