“The arts in Patchogue had a very significant role in the revitalization,” says Patchogue Arts Council president Lori Devlin. “You can go back to the renovation of Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on Main Street. Because that attracted people from outside of the village.”

From there, restaurants started to establish themselves. And among the new housing later popping up in the village was Artspace Lofts.

Artspace is housing strictly for artists, and even contains within it the Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center. The Patchogue Arts Council gallery is also at the building: the Museum of Contemporary Art.

“It is the arts that creates and energy that changes what a community is to what a community would like to be,” said Mayor Paul Pontieri. Tap below to watch.
