Start warming up the palms of your hands because the Karate Kid’s spin-off show Cobra Kai is debuting Wednesday, May, 2.

The show, which takes place 30 years after the original story, will be available on YouTube Red. The first two episodes are free to watch while a subscription is needed to see the entire series.

In an effort to promote the project, lead actors and Long Islanders Ralph Macchio (Miller Place) and William Zabka (Port Washington) sat with News 12’s entertainment reporter, Elisa DiStefano.

“We have been waiting a long time for this, haven’t we?” DiStefano says in the interview.

“Yeah, we are very excited,” responded a smiling Macchio.

In the interview, the three discuss why it took so long to reboot The Karate Kid story.
