Stony Brook University football advanced to the FCS playoffs after a last-second, desperation Hail Mary play in the final regular season game against the University of Maine.
And the play was featured in the No.1 spot on SportsCenter’s Top Ten Saturday night.
With time expiring and down by five points, Seawolves quarterback Joe Carbone flung the ball forty-plus yards into the endzone. And even with four defenders dangling alongside of him, wide receiver Harrison Jackson still came down with the spectacular grab to beat Maine 20-19.
The win cemented Stony Brook’s postseason bid, finishing the season 7-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association. The team will face-off against Lehigh this Saturday at 2 p.m. at LaValle Stadium for their first post season appearance in five years.
The winner will take on No. 1 seeded and undefeated James Madison (11-0) on Saturday, Dec. 2
