The Patchogue Arts Festival is taking place in Patchogue Village throughout October and greaterpatchogue.com is getting all artsy to mark the occasion.

The logo you see above was designed by Gina Lento, an active member in the Patchogue Sketch Club.

We’re going to stage her work on our homepage and social media feeds to constantly remind people the festival runs all month.

Click here for the calendar of events or scroll to the bottom of this page.

Sketch club members can often be seen around town, interpreting big events in their own way — such as this year’s first-ever Patchogue Breakfast Crawl. (See their work below.)

Lento grew up in Philadelphia and moved to Patchogue from South Jersey.

She studied art at the Philadelphia High School for Girls and graduated from Rosemont College with a degree in art and art education.

“I draw and paint for a living and I have loved art ever since I was a kid,” she said. “I was an avid reader when I was growing up.  The illustrations by Wesley Dennis, Norman Rockwell, CW Anderson, Michael Whalen and Sam Savitt made books look so juicy that I wanted to draw, too.”

“They made me happy,” Lento continued. “Drawing makes me happy and I hope my work makes the people who look at it, happy, too.”

The Arts Festival kicked off Friday, Sept. 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Braircliffe College Gallery at 225 West Main Street. What’s following is a month’s worth of art exhibits and special music, cinema, dance, spoken word and multimedia events — all happening around the village.
