The West Islip High School winter indoor track team is running right into the record books this season.
The record breakers are from both the boys and girls team.
In one meet, senior Greg Bove leaped 42 feet and 8.25 inches in the triple jump, which broke the school’s record by about a foot.
At the Marine Corps Invitational in the New York City Armory, the girl’s 4 x 400 meter team, which is made up of runners Christine Delianne, Shannon Horan, Klaire Klemens and Julianna Moses, crushed the school’s old mark with a 4:20.64 finish.
That is about two minutes faster than the previous tally.
“The West Islip girls varsity winter track team, under the direction of coaches Michelle Studley and Greg Ziems, is having another very successful season,” said West Islip High School’s athletic director Tim Horan.
“The community is proud of the girls and congratulates the 4 x 400 relay team on their record setting performance.”
