William Floyd bowling wins League II, earns 10th straight trip to county championships in Sayville

William Floyd High School bowling team members are running out of fingers for the amount of times their program has made it to the Suffolk County Championships.

The Colonials this week captured their second consecutive League II title and a ticket back to the county championships for the 10th consecutive season.

Bowlero on Sunrise Highway in Sayville will host the county finals this Sunday, Feb. 28. Things will get rolling at 9 a.m., and you’ll be able to enjoy the bowling matches with your Sunday coffee: The event will be livestreamed on the William Floyd Athletic Department’s YouTube channel.

Under the leadership of head coach James Healey, the varsity squad coasted to a 13-1 record this season. Their winning ways were spearheaded by senior Louis Parrinello, who placed second overall in Suffolk with a 227 average.

Louis earned First-Team All-County honors and a spot on the Suffolk County All Star team. Louis led the county by rolling a 700+ series seven times and finished the season with a 280-high game, earning him team MVP honors.

In six seasons bowling for William Floyd, Louis earned All-League honors in four seasons and three White Letter awards for academic achievement. He also happened to bowl two perfect 300 games.

The Colonials also saw outstanding performances from Juan Madera (216.4 average) and Alex Ramoska (211.6 average). They both earned First-Team All-League honors.

Madera bowled the highest three-game, 748, in the county. He also finished in the top two in both match points and high games. Ramoska had a high series of 738, a high game of 277 and a top-10 finish in the individual county tournament.

Other notable performances have included Alex Hope, who finished the season with a 192 average and a high game of a 267, along with senior Nick Moscatiello, whose season high game was 225. Moscatiello won an impressive 21 games. 

Trinity Field, Peter Gilhauley, Brian Hodder and Jason Marcoccio also contributed to the Colonials high-powered assault on the pins this season.
