Women’s fashion boutique to open in Port Jefferson Village

|

Women’s fashion merchandise created by women.

Those are the only items you’ll find at Port Jefferson Village’s newest boutique, Origin of Era.

The retail store, founded by longtime fashion enthusiast Renee Goldfarb, is located at 20 Chandler Square. The space previously housed TUMI, The Peruvian Store, before it was split into two locations.

The 45-year-old signed the lease in December and will hold a grand opening on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

According to Origin of Era, the store will sell a variety of women’s items from dresses and accessories to gift-like items.

Goldfarb, who grew up in Deer Park, is proud of the products she sells because of who makes them.

“We focus on how its made not where its made,” said Goldfarb, whose vendors are mostly located in Europe. “We go with smaller independent designers who have a high-end state of mind but with affordable prices.”

Of those designers includes Bali-based Bel Kazan.

“Bel Kazan gives women a safe work environment and pays them a fair wage,” said Goldfarb. “And I am proud to support them.”

Before opening Origin of Era, Goldfarb owned another fashion retailer called SlapBack in Brooklyn.

“It was a different store,” she explained. “We sold women’s dresses, focused on vintage and vintage-inspired.”

After running the business for over six years, the current Amity Harbor resident always knew she wanted to return to Long Island. After researching several areas, she fell in love with the Chandler Square spot.

“I have friends in Port Jeff, I love spending time here, and its a beautiful place,” said Goldfarb.
