Women’s fashion retailer The Village Boutique to open in downtown Port Jefferson

|

After retiring from her job in insurance in December, Abby Buller wasted no time in getting to her bucket list: opening her own business.

The Queens native is launching a women’s fashion store in downtown Port Jefferson called The Village Boutique in the space that housed Gingerbread Construction Company.

“I am 65 years old and I have been shopping my whole life,” Buller said of her motivation in going into retail. “It is what I enjoy; I like fashion.”

The New York City resident is very familiar with the area, having frequented the village over the last 40 years.

“I would come just to walk around the village and enjoy the shopping,” she told GreaterPortJeff. “I always got a sense of community here.”

According to the owner, The Village Boutique carries a variety of clothing items, for ages 16 and up, as well as sizes from 2 to 20.

Buller is bringing in merchandise from manufacturers in New York City and from facilities in France and the United Kingdom.

She chose her stock with a keen eye, too.

“I’ve tried on every piece of clothing that is in my size to make sure it felt right and the sizing was right,” Buller explained.

She plans to have a soft opening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

After the opening, The Village Boutique stores hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and Monday, closed Tuesdays, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday.
