Yaphank gets its brand new Walmart Supercenter

|

Yaphank’s new $450 million, mix-used community, The Boulevard, has its anchor retailer.

On Wednesday, Long Island’s newest Walmart Supercenter opened at the 322-acre mixed-use complex, located at the northwest corner of the Long Island Expressway and William Floyd Parkway.

The 197,000-square-foot store features a full-service grocery, a home center, an auto care center, a pharmacy window, a garden center and a grocery pickup area. This is the island’s third supercenter and 14th Walmart brand location.

Walmart hired over 400 employees for this location.

There are no immediate plans to close the nearby Walmart location in Middle Island.

“As of now the Walmart in Middle Island in not closing, and is subject to an extensive renovation next year,” wrote Brookhaven Town Councilman Michael Loguercio in a Facebook post on this matter.

In addition to the Walmart Supercenter, The Boulevard’s developer, AVR Realty Co., has an additional 300,000 square feet available for commercial space.

The only newly leased space known to the public as of today is a Ridgewood Savings Bank. The property already has an assisted-living facility and a Home2 Suites by Hilton.

The complex features a mix of housing options, between apartments, condos and townhouses. The site will total to over 1,000 units when the property is completed by 2026.
