A natural food market that opened earlier this year in Bayport intent on offering fresh and organic food to a community thirsting for healthier eating options has shut down.
Zucchini Natural Market owners Frank Carbone and Barbara Pagliarulo of West Islip announced the store’s permanent closure in a Facebook post, lamenting that they wished the business “was a little better received than it was.”
“We thank everyone that supported us and all of the community regulars that visited us each day,” read the post from the owners, who canvassed the area for menu ideas before opening the Middle Road market. “You know who you are, and we appreciate the friendships that we have formed with you.
“We will also miss our awesome staff who stuck it out to the end, a big thank you to them,” the owners added.
The Owners noted further that their vision was to help revitalize a once bustling historic store in the heart of Bayport.
Zucchini Natural Market opened in February and was stocked with natural and organic grocery items, frozen foods, fresh produce, ready made sandwiches, fresh fish and hot trays. It catered to vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free and Keto diets alike.
It operated in a space that was built in the 19th century and had last hosted a deli.
