A 64-year-old Islip Terrace man drowned in his backyard pool Sunday afternoon, marking the second Long Island pool death this weekend.
A friend called 911 after discovering Seamus McGuickian unresponsive in the above-ground pool at his home on Irish Lane about 3:15 p.m. McGuickian was pulled from the water and pronounced dead at the scene.
Suffolk Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating, which is standard procedure in unattended deaths, but police believe the drowning is non-criminal.
The death comes two days after retired NYPD Chief Anthony Izzo, 75, drowned in his backyard pool in Stony Brook.
The investigation into McGuickian’s death is ongoing, police said.
