The Bay Shore Tuna Club held its 55th annual Mako Tournament from the Bay Shore Marina on Saturday.

Police with the state Department of Environmental Conservation, and marine biologists with the National Marine Fisheries Services’ Apex Predators Program were on hand to monitor the day’s events.

The biologists took samples from each shark for life history studies.

Prizes were awarded for the largest mako, thresher and bluefish, with Brian Doherty taking the top prize for landing a 271-pound mako.
