Greater Bay Shore coverage is funded in part by Shoregate, now leasing brand-new premium apartment homes in the heart of Bay Shore.
Mighty Fine has put its long-awaited Bay Shore opening on hold, but the bakery and cafe isn’t giving up on the South Shore.
Instead, the business is searching for a new location in the area while teaming up with Great South Bay Brewing for a series of holiday collaborations, including a pop-up event, a special-edition beer and Thanksgiving pie pickups.
Daria Lamb, co-owner of Mighty Fine, told Greater Long Island that the company’s original plans for a building at 9 Third Ave. have been paused after its first location opened in Huntington earlier this year.
The Bay Shore property, purchased in spring 2024, was originally intended to become Mighty Fine’s flagship location.
But after a lengthy permitting process and the successful opening of its Huntington cafe, the owners realized the Bay Shore building would no longer meet their needs.
“We realized that the building in Bay Shore was no longer going to be large enough to be another Mighty Fine,” Lamb said.
How the plans changed
As Greater Long Island first reported in May 2024, Lamb and her husband, David, purchased the Bay Shore property with plans to transform it into a sidewalk cafe.
While waiting for the project to move forward, the couple began exploring other opportunities.
In spring 2026, they found a location in Huntington, taking over the former Finley’s space.
The Huntington property offered substantial indoor and outdoor seating, along with a large kitchen, allowing the couple to bring their concept to life on a larger scale.
Lamb said the response from Huntington customers has been enthusiastic, and the experience helped the owners rethink what they needed from a second location.
A South Shore partnership
In the meantime, Mighty Fine is partnering with Great South Bay Brewing to bring some of its offerings to South Shore customers during the holiday season.
The first collaboration is a Sweets & Sips Pop-Up on Saturday, Oct. 24, during an independent art show at the brewery.
The businesses are also working on a special-edition collaboration beer, scheduled for release Wednesday, Nov. 25, the day before Thanksgiving.
Lamb said the flavor will remain a surprise for now.
Mighty Fine will also accept Thanksgiving pie orders for pickup at Great South Bay Brewing on Nov. 25.
