Tropical Storm Isaias blew in on Tuesday, Aug. 4, and caused widespread damage across the island — trees uprooted, traffic lights out, and wires down in the streets.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for all of Long Island and NYC, as well as Westchester, Putnam, and Rockland counties that ran through 4 p.m.
A tropical storm warning was also in effect for those areas and beyond in the Northeast.
Millions along the East Coast lost power in the aftermath and according to the National Weather Service, LaGuardia Airport and Islip had winds up to 69 mph — some of the strongest winds since Hurricane Sandy.
Below are photos of Isaias’s damage from the Bay Shore/Brightwaters area.
