Ten outstanding Sayville students-athletes signed letters of intent earlier this week to attend and play sports for Division I and II athletic programs in college next school year.
The group of seniors included a half-dozen members of the Golden Flashes’ girls lacrosse team.
As juniors, the girls helped lead Sayville girls lacrosse to a 12-2 record and a berth in the county playoffs.
The commits also included two players from Sayville’s boys lacrosse team, a four-year starting catcher from the baseball team and a member of the girls soccer team.
The list of colleges was a cross section of prestigious institutions that include Army West Point and the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.
The school district gathered the entire group for a signing day event. The student-athletes were each photographed with their families.
