Bay Shore’s ‘The Writers’ Block’ literary-art magazine wins national award

The 2016 edition of Bay Shore High School’s The Writers’ Block was awarded Most Outstanding Literary-Art Magazine by the American Scholastic Press Association, Bay Shore school officials announced Wednesday.

The edition was edited by Joseph Simone and Santino Casola Francesca Feo captured the cover photograph. It took two months to put the publication together, with assistance from a submissions-reading committee and English and Art teachers. 

The Writers’ Block was created in 2003. It was named Most Outstanding Literary-Art Magazine in 2010 and 2011. It was the National Council of Teachers of English Superior-Nominated for Highest Award in both 2011 and 2014.
