NWS: Expect 3 to 6 inches in post-Easter snowfall on Long Island

Winter’s death grip on Long Island persists.

Snow began falling over Suffolk County early Monday and will continue to about midday, according to the National Weather Service.

About 3 to 6 inches are expected in total, mostly before 11 a.m.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued and will remain in effect until 2 p.m.

Snow is falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

“Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute. Expect reduced visibilities at times,” the advisor reads.

Highs will reach 41 degrees Monday and 45 degrees on Tuesday, according to the NWS’s 7-day forecast. The warmest day is forecast for Wednesday, at 58 degrees, though it will be rainy and breezy.

The sun peeks out again on Thursday.
