Coram man hits 130 MPH, flees police on LIE

|

A Coram man faces multiple charges after police say he hit 130 miles per hour on the Long Island Expressway—without headlights—then fled officers attempting to pull him over.

Members of the Suffolk County Police Street Takeover Task Force tried to stop the 2004 Infiniti sedan around 11 p.m. on June 22 near Ronkonkoma. The driver exited the highway at Exit 61 and continued south on Patchogue Holbrook Road, police said.

Investigators tracked the vehicle to the driver’s home on Sandpiper Lane in Coram, where they arrested him around 7:50 p.m. Monday.

Matthew Serritella, 21, was charged with reckless driving and unlawful fleeing of police. He also received 13 summonses. The vehicle was impounded.

Serritella is due in First District Court in Central Islip on July 17.
