Patchogue-Medford Library set up a World We Want wall at the CapitalOne plaza in Patchogue Thursday night during Alive After Five.

People were asked to fill in their own thoughts in chalk under these stenciled-in words:

I want to live in a world where …

To create this world I will …

Laura Accardi, a library development specialist in Patchogue who signed the library up for The World We Want movement last year, said the wall — really a cube — filled up quickly. Then about 100 people filled in postcards.

“Most people wanted their words on the wall,” Accardi said. “I think by 7:45 p.m. people were standing on their tip toes to reach the top of the wall and filling in any available space to leave their message.

“Some of us actually got teary eyed reading some of the message.”
