Motorists should expect westbound lane closures on I-495/Long Island Expressway at the Bellport Avenue bridge between exits 65 and 66 in the Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, this weekend for repairs to the bridge.
Starting on Friday, Nov. 3, at 10 p.m. and concluding on Monday, Nov. 6, at 5 a.m., the westbound right and center lanes will be closed. The left lane of the expressway as well as the service road will remain open during this time.
There will also be times where northbound Bellport Avenue will be closed. During those periods, traffic will be alternating in the southbound lane with the direction of the flag persons on site.
Portable variable message signs have been placed in the area with information regarding the work.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew. As with most road and bridge projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.
