GreaterPortJeff takes off, sees over 30,000 visitors since its Sept. 13 launch

The numbers are in and GreaterPortJeff is taking off.

The North Shore’s newest community news resource was viewed over 41,000 times since launching quietly on Sept. 13, just a few days before Port Jefferson’s Dragon Boat Race Festival, where we shot these photos and video.

The site, part of greaterlongisland.com, has also welcomed over 30,000 unique visitors in those first six weeks.

The GreaterPortJeff site has actually received better numbers to start than any of its sister community news sites, including the company’s flagship site, GreaterPatchogue (2015), GreaterBayShore (2016) and GreaterBabylon (2017).

Publisher Michael White, a journalist previously with the Daily News, unveiled the content-rich greaterpatchogue.com on July 1, 2015.

“I couldn’t be happier with the reception of GreaterPortJeff, our first-ever community news site on the North Shore,” White said. “Not only from readers, but business and civic leaders and community institutions. People could not have been more welcoming — and that means so much.”

In its first six weeks, GreaterPortJeff has covered community events, business grand openings, Theatre Three performance previews, and has broken news of two new restaurants opening soon.

This, along with traffic alerts, health alerts and other public services.
