The anniversary of Superstorm Sandy is being marked in Bellport with a special community gathering called “Sandy’s Silver Lining — 4 Years Later” at the middle school.

This is the fourth meeting of its kind, organized and moderated by the co-director of the Friends of Bellport Bay advocacy group, Thomas V. Schultz.

It will run from 9:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m. Click here for the calendar listing.

The meeting will begin with a screening of a short film by National Geographic titled Sandy’s Silver Lining and another by the Nature Conservancy, titled On Display, staring local photographer Michael Busch.

Each short film explores the beauty and wonder of the inlet, according to the organizers.

Professor Charlie N. Flagg and Professor Bradley J. Petersen both from the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University will be present their findings related to the physical and ecological aspects that the inlet is having on our bay and the mainland shoreline.

The public will have the opportunity to speak and ask questions.
