15 Photos: Vols clean up beaches in Port Jefferson

|

Over 150 volunteers came together this month to pick up trash and debris at five beach locations in Port Jefferson.

On Sunday, April 18, local residents along with the Varsity Club from Port Jefferson High School and a local Boy Scout troop cleaned up Centennial, East, West, Belle Terre and McAllisters Beach/Park.

The event — sponsored and assisted by Pete Murphy and Sea Tow, Maggio’s Environmental and Sheep Pasture Landscaping — was organized by Hometown Hope, a nonprofit run by Long Islanders Sharon Philbrick, Christian Neubert, Erika Gronenthal, Diane and Rod Tafuro, Jim and Hana VonOiste and Paige Reilly.
