A 15-year-old Lindenhurst boy was critically injured early Friday morning in a motorcycle crash, marking the second serious biker accident involving a western Suffolk teen in just three days.

Suffolk County Police said Salvatore Costa was riding a 2015 Suzuki motorcycle in Lindenhurst when he lost control and struck a pole about 1:30 a.m. in front of 149 E. John Street.

Costa was taken by Lindenhurst Rescue to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, where he remains in critical condition.

Police said the motorcycle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the First Squad at 631.854.8152.

The incident comes just two days after 17-year-old Robert Buerkle of West Babylon died in a separate motorcycle crash. Buerkle was riding on 34th Street in North Lindenhurst Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.

He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. A GoFundMe page has been launched to support his family.

Police continue to investigate both crashes.
