Original story: The highly anticipated opening of Henley’s Village Tavern in the heart of Brightwaters Village will soon be upon us.

Owner Dan Kitson, chef John Fischer and the rest of the newly minted Henley’s staff will be opening the doors at 184 Orinoco Drive “any day now,” Kitson said.

The exact opening day and time will announced on the Henley’s Facebook page.

Kerzner Contracting of Sayville has been working furiously through the fall and winter, transforming the old Toddler House into the sparkling new Henley’s, now complete with a full bar that seats 12 and another 35 in the dining room.

“This thing was down to bare bones,” said Kitson. “Little by little it started forming into something.”

He described the decor as industrial meets rustic, but modern. (More photos below.)

“We went more monotone in colors but definitely brightened it up where needed,” Kitson said, especially in its splashes-of-red, multi-colored cedar ceiling.

The food out of the kitchen will be edgy and modern, yet still appealing for a wide audience, chef John Fischer previously told GreaterBayShore. Fischer describes his approach as simple and seasonal, influenced by his years in California.

As previously reported, Kitson formerly owned the Mighty Quinn’s bar in Bay Shore and, later, Declan Quinn’s, now Connolly Station.

Reservations will be highly recommended at the new Henley’s, Kitson said.

“This has been a long time coming,” he said last week. “Discussions started in March of 2016, and then we had t0 wait until October … From demo, to the build-out, to the cosmetic stuff, it’s been a long process and we’re really excited; we want to get these doors open.

“We’re hoping to make our mark,” he added. “We want to hit on something in this town.

“And I’m really happy with the way the place turned out and looks.”
