The ole’ general store-style F&M Goods opens this Saturday in Babylon Village and GreaterBabylon got a sneak peek.
There we found sodas, candy, flowers, plants, candles, handmade kitchen linens, totes and beach bags, retro signs, toys and clothes for kids and babies.
There’s even stuff for dogs and cats.
What’s not for sale is the vintage Flying A gas pump, or Quikold Pepsi-Cola cooler, or some of the signs that date to the early 20th century.
That’s just to give the place that old-time feel.
“It would just be another store if I didn’t have all this stuff, you know?” said owner Leon “Lonny” Drexler of Babylon, an avid collector of old soda machines, coolers and other artifacts of Americana.
He said the best part of prepping and outfitting the store this past spring was getting to stage and mount all the stuff from his extensive collection.
“And, just getting to look at it all day long,” he said.
F&M Goods opens at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, at 1 Fire Island Avenue.
