You may have seen on the news a young man by the name of Billy Richards who has been running across the country with the American flag and presenting it to local law enforcement.
Billy served four years as a Marine and three years in the U.S. Army. Islip hamlet is his hometown.
He has been featured on the news in states all over the country, including here at greaterbayshore.com, on the quest he calls his “Thank the Police Tour.”

This Thursday, Aug. 11th, at 10:30 a.m., the Islip Chamber Of Commerce is hosting a welcome home for him in Islip at the American Legion, located at 39 Nassau Avenue in Islip.
We would like to invite the entire community to attend, and help us provide him with a warm welcome.
Suffolk County Legislator Tom Cilmi, state Senator Tom Croci, state Senator Phil Boyle, and Sue Ciano, a Suffolk County Trustee for the Metro NY Police Survivors, and elected leaders from Islip Town will all be in attendance.
