Bay Shore H.S. actors nominated for prestigious Roger Rees Awards in NYC

Two actors from Bay Shore High School have been nominated to represent Bay Shore and Suffolk County in the statewide Roger Rees Awards (formerly the Gershwin Awards) for Excellence in Student Performance 2016-17 contest.

Bay Shore seniors Michaela DeJoseph and Christian Negron are among 41 performers who are vying for the coveted Best Actor and Best Actress in a local high school musical awards.

The winners will be announced on Sunday, May 21, in New York City.

DeJoseph was nominated for her depiction of Olive Ostrovsky, the female lead role in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Negron was nominated for his Gomez Addams performance in The Addams Family.

Christopher Bilella, a choir teacher and drama director at Bay Shore High School, directed both shows.
