Great Days: A farmers market punctuated by a paint-and-sip in Bay Shore

This Friday’s Bounty by the Bay Farmers MarketĀ at the Main Street Bandshell in Bay Shore was marked by live music and painting.

Pinot’s Palette, theĀ Bay Shore paint-and-sip studio across Main Street in Village Place, set up a 8 X 10 canvas class for a specialĀ outdoor event that cost $10. (Although all anyone appeared to be sipping was coffee or water.)

Two art teachers, Lauren Ruiz and Eric Jacob, instructed the painters.

And of course, the popular weekly farmers market carried on as usual, during which everyoneĀ wasĀ treated to the music of Rosa Valente of Rocky Point.

Shopper Katie Sweeney was there, as she is almost every week, pushing a baby carriage that heldĀ her dog Gwenny.

“I love all the organic options,” she said. “The tomatoes are the best I’ve ever had. The corn is amazing.”

The market is managed by Sweet Melissa 1932 and sponsored by theĀ Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore.

It runs every Friday through Sept. 23, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
