20 Photos: Sayville’s ‘Miracle on Main’ makes a glorious return

|

Thousands of people flocked to Main Street in Sayville on Saturday to soak in the triumphant comeback of what is perhaps the community’s most treasured traditions: ‘Miracle on Main.’

The event — back at full strength after the Greater Sayville of Commerce hosted a scaled back “Mini” version in 2020 due to the pandemic — went off without a hitch.

Kicking off with a 10:30 a.m. holiday parade, the daylong event featured a mini ice skating rink, a Gingerbread House competition, live music, dance performances, the Christmas tree lighting ceremony, plenty of amusements for children and, of course, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.

“The Greater Sayville Chamber was so happy to be able to return to the Miracle that happens on Main!” chamber President Eileen Tyznar said. “This was a very special year not only being it was our 15th annual Miracle on Main, but also being our very first large event since the shutdown of COVID.

“We are very thankful to the community who came out in full throttle and the performers who gave it their all,” Tyznar added.

GreaterLongIsland contributor Brianna Harmon was there with camera in hand to capture much of the fun. Check out the photos below, and be sure to click on the numbered boxes to see them all.
