Lorenzo Bono and greaterbayshore.comGreaterbayshore.com is proud to welcome its first account executive, Lorenzo Bono.

Bono will be out and about in Greater Bay Shore, trying his best to earn support for the site from area businesses, as well as from local and regional institutions.

His goal, and that of greaterbayshore.com as a whole, is to help our communities thrive in the short and long term.

We do this organically by delivering original, well-written local news and feature stories every day. (And some of the photos are good, too!)

The site is 100 percent advertiser supported, which is what makes Bono’s role so crucial

And he’s certainly up to the task.

Bono, a lifelong Bay Shore resident, is a former U.S. Marine Sergeant and machine gun squad team leader and senior logistics chief for the 1st Marine Division.

He served from August 2014 to January 2016 in Afghanistan, where he helped coordinate 1,600 Marine personnel and managed $20 million of equipment.

In his civilian life, he’s also a licensed salesperson for Jamie Winkler Real Estate in West Islip.

Lastly, he is a successful business student at St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue, where he has a 3.4 GPA and will be graduating in May.

“There is something unique about greaterbayshore.com that sets a positive tone for me and allows me to confidently market and grow the brand,” Bono said. “And with an owner who shows such love and passion for journalism, I know my time is being well spent.”

Veteran New York journalist Michael White, who has a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University, launched his first independent community news website, greaterpatchogue.com, on July 1, 2015, after 15 years in newspapers. Greatebayshore.com launched 11 months later, on June 1, 2016.

White, who lives in Bellport and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 1997,  is also a former New York Post and Daily News reporter. (Click here for more details.)

“I feel so blessed to have an accomplished military veteran, trained salesperson and proud father by my side as I work to grow this site for Bay Shore and the surrounding areas,” White said. “His ideals align perfectly with mine; I couldn’t ask for anything more.”

“I love seeing businesses and people thrive,” Bono said. “I love doing good by others, and more importantly, I love and value growth in my own life and in my community.”

Bono is married with two children: daughter Graziella, 3, and 2-month-old Lorenzo.

His wife, Samantha, is a nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.
