Annual ‘Health to Hollywood’ talent show gets underway in Bay Shore

|

The Fifth Annual Health to Hollywood talent show is kicking off this Thursday, July 20, at the YMCA/Boulton Center for the Performing Arts in Bay Shore.

There’s another preliminary round July 27, and the finale is Aug. 3.

Tickets to July 20 are $10. Click here to purchase.

“Health to Hollywood has raised well over $50,000 to provide support to local veteran organizations as well as the Northwell Health Office of Military and Veterans Liaison Services,” said Edward Fraser, the vice president of community relations at Northwell Health, which runs the competition.

To help with the fundraising efforts, Northwell is selling journal ads. The journal will be distributed Aug. 3 to all attendees at the Boulton Center.

How the competition works:

• The annual talent show is open to Northwell Health employees and their families, as well as the general public. However, there are no spots left for 2017.

• Participants are not required to audition; the only requirement is that participants sell 10 tickets to a show.

• All performers are given up to 5 minutes to perform and they are then judged by three guest judges made up of Northwell staffers and local dignitaries.

• The top five competitors in each of the two preliminary rounds advance to the finale in August.

“Through this fundraising, the Northwell Health community relations department has been able to provide sponsorships for the United Veterans Beacon House and the NYC Veterans Day Parade,” Fraser added.

All the shows start at 7 p.m. Click here to purchase July 27 or Aug. 3 tickets.
