TheĀ 13th NEFCU branch opened its doors quietly at the corner of Maple and Main streetsĀ in downtown Bay Shore this summer.

And with that, it became the first credit union branch to offer interactive teller machines (video tellers) on Long Island.

TheĀ Nassau Educators Federal Credit UnionĀ tellers servicing clients in Bay Shore are actually in Westbury.

NEFCU is billing its newest branch as “virtually paperless,” and is getting set for a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony next week.

ā€œOur Bay Shore location has been built on an advanced digital platform, and will truly be a harbinger of what we plan on introducing for all our future branches,ā€ said Eileen Nolan, an executive vice president at NEFCU.

She said the tech-centric environmental will appeal to younger members, “and to those who seek convenience and efficiency when it comes to banking.ā€

As previously reported, there areĀ two digital teller machines, as well as aĀ third, traditional ATM machine in the NEFCU lobby.Ā But there will never be live tellers in the branch, and at nighttime all the machines will serve as traditional ATMs.

There will be member service reps in the branch if a real person is needed.

This is NEFCUā€™s third Suffolk County branch, with the others on Jericho Turnpike in Commack and Huntington Station. The not-for-profit institution as 13 total.
