You can nominate an Italian-American to be honored by the Town of Islip

The Town of Islip announced Wednesday that it’s now accepting nominations for its annual Celebration of Italian American Heritage.

Each year, the town honors local people of Italian descent who have made significant contributions to the Islip community through professional or volunteer activity.

The deadline for nominating forms is Monday, Sept. 18. You can find a a form by visiting the town’s website at www.islipny.gov.

Email your completed form to [email protected], or mail it to the Town of Islip, Department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Affairs, 50 Irish Lane, East Islip, NY  11730, attn. M. Figalora.

A short biography, resume and letters of recommendation must be attached, the town emphasizes.

Honorees will be selected based on their accomplishments and contributions to the town and the wider community.
