Summer fun and excitement filled the space “Under the Big Tent” at First Baptist Church in Bay Shore on Saturday.

The event gave kids in the community a chance to explore the arts, sports, and free food. A giant rock-climbing wall was the popular attraction for many— bells rang each time someone reached the top. Some kids practiced their cartwheels in the bouncy-house, while others took a shot at trying archery for the first time.

The Great South Bay YMCA and First Baptist Church volunteers curated the event. Together, they offered a full lineup of entertainment, which included energy packed routines by students from 3D Dance Studios in Deer Park, and theatre-musical performances from Lynn Clark and Y Act-Out singers.

The fun didn’t stop there. Children played basketball, jumped double-dutch and painted crafts. Families dined “Under the Big Tent” with food from Dang BBQ in Islip and Mr. Smith’s Seafood and More in Deer Park.
