More than 1.6 million students sat for the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last year. Only about 34,000 of those were named Commended Students for finishing in the top 5 percent.
Five of those Commended Students are from Bay Shore High School.
And those students were recognized this week through a district announcement.
