It’s that time of year again! Of course we’re talking about Coney Island’s annual Mermaid Parade, which is June 17 in Brooklyn.

In the run-up to the annual spectacle by the beach, Paper Doll Curiosity Shoppe will be helping people prepare right here in Patchogue.

The parade coincides with Paper Doll’s first classes being held at its 33 East Main Street location. This Sunday, people can sign up for a Mermaid Makeup Class for $50, a Mermaid Hair Class for $30 (think Mer-Braid), or $75 for both classes.

“Only a week before The Mermaid Parade, learn to be the best mermaid you can be at our Mermaid Makeup class, taught by Carissa Swany!” says Paper Doll owner Dominique Maciejka.

The braiding is by Danielle D’Alessio of Geeks Get Glam.

The Curiosity Shoppe also offers mermaid gear, such as pearls, pasties, body chains, wigs, hologram seashell purses, and more. The store will be open early on Sunday, June 17, at 9 a.m., the day of the parade. People can meet and get ready at the shop, where Swany will also be on hand to hire for makeup.

“And I can drive people straight to the train station from the shop,” Maciejka said.

Tickets can be purchased at the shop, by calling 1(631)730-8383 or via PayPal to [email protected]. Register head of time and get a free gift!
