Burgerology is coming back to Patchogue. Here’s what’s new

Patchogue is getting its Burgerology back.

Less than two years after leaving the village, the popular burger restaurant is preparing to reopen in the former Spycoast Kitchen space, bringing back its familiar menu along with a new concept that lets customers decide which new dishes deserve to stick around.

“I always wanted to stay in Patchogue,” owner Eddie Galatoulas told Greater Long Island. “It was our number one place. And when we left, I always said we would be back, just in a different spot.”

Burgerology left its previous Patchogue location at 11 Railroad Ave., adjacent to Stereo Garden, after Galatoulas decided not to renew the lease. He said he wasn’t happy with the direction the restaurant’s atmosphere had taken.

“We turned more into a nightclub scene, and that’s not what Burgerology is,” he said. “We are a family, fun restaurant.”

That doesn’t mean the new location won’t have some nighttime entertainment.

“Yes, we will still have a bar, football and the UFC fights, but I can’t stress enough that the vibe we want is fun for the family,” Galatoulas said. “We just want people to come here and have a good meal, in a good atmosphere.”

There will also be plenty of new food to try.

Some new offerings:

Among the additions is a Philly cheesesteak that Galatoulas is already confident can stand up against the competition.

“I’ll say this right now, I’ll put ours up against any other Philly cheesesteak on Long Island,” he said.

The sandwich is one of several new creations being introduced through Burgerology’s new “Experiment” menu, which is being rolled out across all of its locations.

The idea is simple: Burgerology will introduce six or seven new items every couple of months and let customers determine which ones have staying power. The popular dishes stay. The ones that don’t sell are gone.

Along with the Philly cheesesteak, the Experiment menu includes a spicy vodka chicken parm sandwich, an artichoke smashburger and a bacon, egg and cheese burger served on a croissant.

“We also have a giant mozzarella stick with an unbelievable cheese pull,” Galatoulas said. “It’s great and people are loving it so far.”

For dessert, there’s the new Lava Cake Shake, made with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and chocolate crunchies and topped with a cookie lava cake and five-layer chocolate cake.

The Patchogue reopening will give Burgerology six Long Island locations. The company also operates restaurants in Stony Brook, Farmingdale, Rockville Centre, Huntington and Massapequa.

And Galatoulas has plans to take the brand well beyond Long Island.

Burgerology already has a New York City location, in Midtown, and the company is now eyeing New Jersey and Westchester as it considers its next expansion.

“We want to grow this brand nationwide,” Galatoulas said. “There’s already one in the city, and we’re looking in Jersey and Westchester now. We think it can be that big.”

The new Patchogue Burgerology, at 76 W. Main St., is expected to open by the beginning of November.
