What to know about the Alive After Five shuttles for summer 2017

This summer, the organizers of Alive After Five are encouraging as many attendees as possible to take the shuttle to downtown Patchogue for the summer festivals.

The overall idea is to relieve the neighborhoods surrounding the Main Street area of parked cars, and make for a nicer experience for all festival-goers.

“Hundreds of parking spaces are available at St. Joseph’s College and Our Lady of Mount Carmel,” church, said David Kennedy, the executive director of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, which organizes the events.

The shuttles, which are free, will start running at 5 p.m. and go until 11 p.m.

“So there’s no excuse for people who don’t make sure they get to their cars when it’s all over,” at 9:30 p.m., Kennedy told Village Board members Monday night.

The drop-off areas in the downtown will be at two locations. One is behind the District Court building at 150 West Main Street, immediately west of The Tap Room. The other will be at the village parking lot south of Oak Street, behind the Congregational Church of Patchogue.

The Congregational Church is located at 95 East Main Street.

The address for St. Joseph’s College is listed as 155 W. Roe Boulevard, with the parking lot accessible from the south service road just east of Waverly Avenue.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church is located at 495 North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue, just north of Sunrise Highway on the east side of the roadway.

The Chamber is using a 50-person van, as opposed to a full-size coach bus, to ease navigation through the village streets.

There are two shuttles running, one each between St. Joseph’s and downtown and Mount Carmel and downtown.

The runs will take about 10 to 15 minutes from stop to stop, Kennedy said.

“The shuttle is free and the best way to avoid traffic and parking problems,” he said.

The Alive After Five dates are July 6, July 20, Aug. 3, and Aug 17.
