DOT says northbound Robert Moses Causeway closures to last a week

|

DOT Travel Alerts |

Motorists should expect a full closure of northbound Robert Moses Causeway at the westbound ramp to the Southern State Parkway beginning Monday, May 21, in the Town of Islip.

Closures will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for pavement resurfacing work, which is expected to take one week.  Traffic will be detoured onto the eastbound Southern State Parkway ramp, exit onto Bay Shore Road, and will be directed to westbound Southern State Parkway.

This full closure has been deemed necessary to ensure a safe work zone.

As with most road projects, work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather.  Portable variable message signs have been placed in the area to advise motorists.

Motorists are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone, obey any speed restrictions that may be in place, and the instructions of the flag persons for their safety and the safety of the highway work crew.
