Letter: All options on the table with Frank P. Long health concerns

|

To the Editor:

The South Country Central School Board of Education and Central Administration are actively
considering all options for our students, teachers, staff, and administration at Frank P. Long Intermediate School.

Those options, as well as all environmental testing done to date is available on the district’s
website at www.southcountry.org. On behalf of the Board of Education, we want to assure the parents and concerned citizens in our district that we are gathering, reading and evaluating expert reports, parental inquiries and SED (State Education Department) requirements to give the issues surrounding Frank P. Long the attention it deserves.

Our next Board of Education Meeting is scheduled for July 26 at the Bellport High School.

Our community should know this, in moving forward with considering both short-term and long-term options, we all want to get this right for the safety of our faculty and staff, and for our children’s safety while keeping in mind their academic, extra-curricular, and social experience in South Country.

We also want to make the most fiscally responsible decision that best serves our short term needs and long term goals for a better South Country.

Without question, our decisions will keep health and safety as our number one priority.

Sincerely,
Cheryl A. Felice, Board President SCCSD
