The Ocean Bay House, Bay Shore’s only bed and breakfast, is now open for business and taking reservations.
After well more than a year of construction, the large colonial at 69 Ocean Avenue has been completely transformed and boasts nine bedrooms (including one suite), several common areas, a massive outdoor deck and an in-ground pool on the water.
The house was built in 1890 for entertaining, and was originally an annex to the Prospect House, which was large enough to accommodate 200 visitors before it burned in 1903, according to the Bay Shore Historical Society website.
It was no small task to restore the building to its former glory and beyond, said general manager (and B&B veteran) Colleen McGrath.
“It has been a long, lonely, and tiring journey,” McGrath wrote on Facebook, “but now we look forward to pursuing our dreams and vision for this grand bed and breakfast. Greeting our guests with open arms and to bring love, laughter and warm memories in and out of our doors.”
Now it will serve for entertainment purposes once again. Click here to book.
