Eateries in Bayport, Blue Point and Sayville are ‘Best of Long Island’ winners

|

Greater Sayville is well represented on this year’s list of Bethpage Best of Long Island winners.

Three popular spots — Beyond Philly in Blue Point, The Fish Store in Bayport and Cornucopia in Sayville — were each honored in the annual contest voted on by residents and patrons of Long Island businesses.

“I try to stress quality and consistency — that’s why I make every sandwich myself, and people come back,” said Arnold Gifford, owner of Beyond Philly, which earned the prize for Best Cheesesteak for the sixth straight year.

The Fish Store also won for the sixth consecutive year — for Best Fish Market.

“We are sooooo very happy and thankful!” read a post on the market’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.

The Best Veggie Burger prize went to Cornucopia.

“Their veggie burger is truly organic vegan, made primarily of lentils and without any eggs or dairy,” according to Bethpage Best of Long Island. “You can get one grilled to order at the shop, or take one home in their freezer section.”

Cornucopia owner Jonathan Lien was ecstatic with the news of the award.

“We all put our heart and soul into this place, so to be recognized for our work is amazing,” he said. “And to represent Sayville as a Best of Long Island company even makes it better.

“I always tell our employees that what sets us apart is that warm feeling you get when you walk through the door. Customer service has, and always will be, so deeply ingrained in our culture,” Lien added.
