Some things just make sense.
Expanding GreaterBabylon.com’s coverage area from just Babylon Village and its neighbors is one of them.
So GreaterBabylon will be covering all of Babylon Town.
Within the next few weeks, our readers will start seeing news from Deer Park, Copiague, Lindenhurst, Amityville, and all the other villages and hamlets.
“Typically, Greater Long Island sites each focus on one downtown business center, such as Babylon or Port Jefferson, and the adjacent hamlets and villages,” said the company’s founder and editorial director, Michael White, a former West Babylon resident.
“But here in Babylon Town, you’ve got three dynamic villages within a few miles of one another along the South Shore. That’s not to mention a reinvigorated Wyandanch, huge regional destinations such as the Tanger Outlets in Deer Park, and game-changing building projects planned for places like Lindenhurst and Wheatley Heights.”
Leading the efforts in the town will be Greater Long Island Media Group’s content manager, Nicholas Esposito, who has been with the company for nearly three years.
Esposito, a St. Joseph’s College graduate and life-long Suffolk County resident, has already been managing our news stories out of Babylon Village, West Babylon, North Babylon and West Islip since GreaterBabylon launched in April 2017.
Esposito broke the news of the Patchogue restaurateurs taking over the old Beach Hut at Cedar Beach, transforming it into the instantly popular Salt Shack. He was also the first to report plans this August for Babylon Village’s first-ever recurring summer festival series called Babylon Block Party.

Esposito also got the scoop on plans that are in the works for the Secatogue Brewery on Union Boulevard in West Islip. (Still in the works.)
“There’s so much going on and we want to be a part of it,” Esposito said.
As part of the changes at Greater Long Island Media Group, news from West Islip will be shifted to sister site GreaterBayShore. However, all West Islip stories will be shared to both the Babylon and Bay Shore audiences through social media, news alerts and our regular newsletters.

ABOUT GREATER LONG ISLAND
Greater Long Island Media Group is Long Island’s fastest-growing local news organization. Independently owned, 100 percent supported by advertisers, and free to readers, the company currently publishes sites out of Patchogue, Babylon, Bay Shore and Port Jefferson.
Here, the emphasis is on feature stories and community news, as opposed to crime alerts and political races. Together, the sites, all published through greaterlongisland.com, are on pace to be viewed nearly 2.5 million times in 2018.
Plans are also in the works for sites in Huntington and Farmingdale.
