Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats heads to Patchogue Theatre on October 14

|

It’s been over three decades since The Stray Cats graced the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. And even longer since they started forcing rockabilly on disco fans across Long Island in the late 1970s.

But Stray Cats’ bass player Lee Rocker  is coming home on Oct. 14, when he takes the stage at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts, it was just announced.

Aside from the Stray Cats, which have sold 10 million records, Rocker has played with The Rolling Stones, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, and John Fogerty.

He’s been touring since 1980 and “has cultivated a fanatically loyal following of rockers, rebels and all types of music lovers,” according to the Patchogue Theatre website. “He is known for making his upright double bass appear as if it were a lightweight instrument as he spins, throws it in the air, catches and plays it on stages throughout the world.”
