Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening in Patchogue off Waverly Avenue

|

GreaterPatchogue has confirmed a Chipotle Mexican Grill is in the works for Waverly Plaza, most recently the site of a Noodles & Company that’s been closed since spring.

“It’s on the way,” said a Chipotle spokesperson, adding the company was looking at a late 2017 or early 2018 opening.

It was still too far off to provide a more proximate date, he said.

The nearest location for a Chipotle Mexican Grill, which is headquartered in Denver, Co., is currently in Selden on Route 25/Middle Country Road near County Road 83.

There are well over 2,000 locations across the U.S. and over two dozen on Long Island.

Noodles & Company headquartered in Broomfield, Co., announced in March it had closed 39 underperforming restaurants, while still opening others, according to Nation’s Restaurant News. Locations in Farmingdale and Garden City Park closed in January, Newsday reported.

The local Noodles & Company location was owned and operated by Doherty Enterprises, Inc., which is based in New Jersey but runs 150 chain restaurants up and down the East Coast.

Doherty Enterprises also runs the Panera Bread next door in the Waverly Plaza.

On Tuesday, a Doherty Enterprises spokesperson said the location at 367 C Sunrise Highway closed on May 7.

“We have appreciated the opportunity to serve the guests at this location for the past two years,” she stated. “Our guests can still enjoy Noodles & Company at our location at The Westbury Plaza in Garden City.”

She noted that associates and managers were given the opportunity to relocate to other Doherty Enterprises owned and operated concepts throughout Long Island.

“We appreciate all the hard work, loyalty and dedication of each and every one of our staff and wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” the company stated.
