It was an Independence Day BBQ for vets at Beacon House in Bay Shore

Thursday in Bay Shore marked the 20th annual Beacon House BBQ for Veterans, with some 75 veterans attending — and over 100 people total.

Each year, military veterans from across the area are invited to the United Veterans Beacon House location at 1715 Union Boulevard for a day of food and drink and entertainment.

And it’s all on the house, the Beacon Hose.

The group’s board and staffers also join in for the annual Independence Day barbecue “to honor veterans seeking independence,” according to the Beacon House.

Their service is then honored in a ceremony, with elected leaders also in attendance.

The American Bombshells were also on-hand Thursday, singing patriotic tunes under the tent. Scroll down for photos by Tiny Sferrazza.

Since 1994, United Veterans Beacon House (a 501 (C) 3 nonprofit) has provided a safe haven to veterans and their families. Over 20,000 individuals have benefitted from housing and specialized support services to those in need.
