Rollup Thai ice cream is now available at Bar A Dessert

|

Bar A Dessert opened quietly this week on South Ocean Avenue in Patchogue. The Asian fusion dessert shop features rollup Thai ice cream and more.

And people are already raving on Yelp.

“I came here to try and it was the chocolate lava cake! We waited maybe for 20 minutes but it was so worth it,” wrote Ron G of East Patchogue.

“Patchogue finally has a dessert bar to go after dinner, where the dessert is fresh and made on the premises,” wrote Michael M of Oyster Bay. “It was all great.  The place is super clean and new and the staff went out of their way to make sure we were happy.”

The business is the handiwork of Lin Wang, 32, of Patchogue, who also owns 360 Taiko Sushi across the street, and partner Junggle Fu, 30, of Flushing, Queens.

Many visitors to Alive After Five this past summer have already gotten a taste of the rollup ice cream. Bar A Dessert had set up a temporary stand outside the shop, which was approved by the village in June. (Photo below.)

Here’s how it works: The ice cream being mixed over a metal table, frozen to minus 5 degrees, chopped, spread and rolled in an open-bar atmosphere until it’s ready to be devoured.

Options include a chocolate green tea lava cake, banana chouff, chocolate forest and coconut monkey bread.

The 17-seat store also has gluten-free options and a selection of coffee specials.
